Rules

Safety Rules

All members and guests must adhere to these safety rules at all times.

🔒 Gates & Locks

After your row, all gates shall be shut and locked including both boathouse doors, the gate at the top of the dock ramp, and the entrance gate.

🌡 Water Temperature

Members must not row solo when water is below 50°F due to hypothermia risks. Never row when the combined temperature of air and water is below 90 degrees (the "Rule of 90").

⚡ Storm Safety

Review forecasts before rowing. If thunder is heard, wait 30 minutes. If lightning is visible, wait 60 minutes. During storms on the water, return to dock safely and promptly.

🗻 River Boundaries

Do not row past Boatrights Island (shallow and rocky). Avoid the concrete structure on the far river side near the dam. Do not stop near upriver bridge piers.

🌅 Time Restrictions

Do not row prior to sunrise or after sunset. Always check conditions before heading out on the water.

🏊 Swim Test

All members must complete a swim test within 30 days: swim 150 continuous yards, tread water 10 minutes, and don a PFD without stopping. The CRC board administers these tests.

📝 Logbook

Members should sign out before rowing and sign back in upon return. Always let someone know your rowing plan.

👦 Youth Requirements

All youth and collegiate rowers require coach supervision in a launch at all times on the water.

🚫 Alcohol Policy

CRC does not allow alcohol or other drugs on the premises at any time. Zero tolerance.
